The Reviews in Haiku

Sometimes reviews can drown the essence of a book with their words and often really great books can be described in just one sentence.

Haiku’s, the form of Japanese poetry that consists of three phrases of 5,7,5 syllables, are a wonderful medium for bringing to the surface the heart of a book. When structured by rhythm strong sentiments flow readily to the surface. They are great if you don’t have time to read the full review and are often funny.

Scroll to the bottom of each review to find the book’s Haiku.

  1. Just finished ‘American Wife’,as it was recommended in one of yolur reviews. You are right it is indeed a page turner that is a great read and gives an insight into ordinary and political life. The portrayal of the first lady from childhood to sexagenarian is riveting as is the portrayal of the president.
